Children's Pumpkin Decorating Contest!! (BEGINS)

Children's Pumpkin Decorating Contest!! (BEGINS) In-Person

Open to children of all ages! Decorate a pumpkin to represent your favorite Children's Book or Book Character! You can paint it, dress it, and/or accessorize it. Please use a fake pumpkin OR send in a picture entry if you choose to use a real pumpkin. Print and fill out the attached entry form to hand in with your pumpkin. (We will also have forms available at the Library for you to fill out at drop-off.) We will accept one entry per child.

Bring your pumpkin to the Library by October 22nd OR email a picture to mlevins@nioga.org

All pumpkins will be displayed in the Children's Room for the month of October. Voting will take place from October 24th to the 29th. Winners will be announced via social media on Halloween!! 

ONE winner will be selected for each of the following categories:

  • Best Representation of Character (one for each age group)
  • Best Use of Materials
  • Most Memorable
  • Silliest
  • Staff Favorite

*Each entry may only win ONE category!

Melissa Levins

Miss Melissa is the Children's Librarian at the Woodward Memorial Library and enjoys working with patrons of all ages! She started at WML as a Library Assistant in July 2018, but has worked at a number of libraries in Genesee county since 2014. Miss Melissa received her Bachelor's in Child and Family Studies from SUNY Oneonta in 2013 and recently completed her Master's in Library Science at the University of Syracuse. At WML she leads library programs of all types, including storytimes, after-school programs, take-home kits, and adult crafts. She loves hearing your program ideas and making them a reality! 

 

Miss Melissa loves to read mysteries, romance, fantasy, and thrillers, and her favorite adult authors are Mary Kubica, Colleen Hoover, Jodi Picoult, and Christina Lauren. Her favorite children's authors are Todd Parr, Eric Carle, Lucy Cousins, and Lemony Snicket, while her favorite young adult authors are John Green and Maureen Johnson.
