Create-a-Creature Contest Begins

Create-a-Creature Contest Begins

Open to grades PreK - 12th! Beginning June 28th, pick up a mystery kit of recyclables and assorted craft supplies, then use them to create your own creature! Kits will be available on a first come first serve basis, while supplies last - no need to register.

Bring your creation back to the Library by July 31st or email a picture to mlevins@nioga.org

All creatures will be displayed in the Children's Room for the month of August. Voting will take place from August 2nd to August 20th. Winners will be announced on August 25th. See the entry form for more information!

ONE winner will be selected for each of the following age groups:

  • PreK - 2nd
  • 3rd - 6th
  • 7th - 12th

ONE winner will be selected for each of the following categories:

  • Most Creative
  • Best Use of Materials
  • Most Realistic Creature
  • Most Unusual Creature

Each entry may only win one category. All winners will receive a free ice cream coupon to Sweet Betty's!

Melissa Levins

Miss Melissa is the Children's Librarian at the Woodward Memorial Library and enjoys working with patrons of all ages! She started at WML as a Library Assistant in July 2018, but has worked at a number of libraries in Genesee county since 2014. Miss Melissa received her Bachelor's in Child and Family Studies from SUNY Oneonta in 2013 and recently completed her Master's in Library Science at the University of Syracuse. At WML she leads library programs of all types, including storytimes, after-school programs, take-home kits, and adult crafts. She loves hearing your program ideas and making them a reality! 

 

Miss Melissa loves to read mysteries, romance, fantasy, and thrillers, and her favorite adult authors are Mary Kubica, Colleen Hoover, Jodi Picoult, and Christina Lauren. Her favorite children's authors are Todd Parr, Eric Carle, Lucy Cousins, and Lemony Snicket, while her favorite young adult authors are John Green and Maureen Johnson.
