Sign up for one of our Summer Reading Challenges today! 

Stop in anytime after June 24th to register and to pick up your board! Earn tickets for a chance to win free books and prizes just by keeping track of your reading throughout the summer. See your age group below for more information! All Reading Challenges run from Wednesday 6/24 - Saturday 8/15.

Children's Challenge: 

Patrons ages 0 - 12 years will keep track of the minutes they spend reading. Participants will receive a necklace used to collect beads and brag tags throughout the summer, based on their challenge log. Every 15 minutes read equals one bead. Completing activities like attending programs will earn brag tags for the necklaces! Collect exclusive brag tags for participating in special Library events, like the Nioga Library Passport, the Christmas in July Book Drive, and adding a painted rock to Herbert our Library Rock Bookworm! Complete the challenge log to earn a Grand Prize Raffle ticket and a free book! Those who complete the challenge early, may get a second board and continue to earn beads and brag tags! Stopping into the Library to collect beads or brag tags, or check out books earns Weekly Raffle tickets! Every Monday we will pull 1 Weekly Raffle winner from the previous week's tickets. Weekly Raffle tickets will then be added to the Grand Prize Raffle, which will be drawn at the end of the summer!

Teen Challenge: 

Patrons ages 13-17 years will keep track of the number of hours they read throughout the summer. Once you've colored in all of the circles, the reading challenge is complete and you will earn a Teen Grand Prize raffle ticket and a free book to keep! Stop into the Library to show us your progress and receive a Teen Weekly Raffle ticket. Earn a second Teen Weekly Raffle ticket for checking books out. Every Monday we will pull 1 Weekly Raffle winner from the previous week's tickets. Weekly Raffle tickets will then be added to the Grand Prize Raffle, which will be drawn at the end of the summer! NEW this year, Teens can earn brag tags for attending programs! For every program you attend or are a volunteer at, you’ll get to pick a brag tag for your summer reading keychain! Collect exclusive brag tags for participating in special Library events, like the Nioga Library Passport, Christmas in July Book Drive, and adding a painted rock to our Library Bookworm!

Adult Challenge: 

Patrons 18 years and older will read library books to receive raffle tickets for prize drawings! In this seven-week summer program, participants choose and read books from a genre or category listed on their reading log. Read a book and receive a raffle ticket for the raffle basket drawing at the end of the program. If you read three books over the course of the program you will receive a ticket to the finale program on Monday, August 17 at 6:00 pm. Winners for the raffle baskets will be drawn at this event (you do not need to be present to win). Read from every category and receive a bonus raffle ticket (max number of tickets for the summer is 9). Full instructions and rules will be on the summer reading log that you receive when you sign up for the program.
