Winter Reading Challenges Begin!

Our Winter Reading Challenges begin today! 

All challenges run from January 5th - February 28th. Stop into the Library to register! 

Children's Challenge: Open to patrons ages 0 - 12. Read a book from each category listed on the BINGO board. Each BINGO earns an entry into our basket raffle and a sheet of stickers to add to our Winter Reading Mystery Mural. Bring your board to the Children's Desk each time you visit the Library to claim them! Once you complete your card (12 BINGOs total), you'll receive an additional raffle ticket and a brand-new book of your choice to keep! Children may continue to earn additional raffle entries using the Bonus Board on the back for a total of 26 entries (13 regular board & 13 bonus board)!

Teen Challenge: Open to patrons 13-18. For every 30 minutes you read, cross off a space on your Winter Reading BINGO Board. Each BINGO earns an entry into our basket raffle and a sheet of stickers to add to our Winter Reading Mystery Mural. Bring your board to the Children's Desk each time you visit the Library to claim them! Once you complete your card (12 BINGOs total), you'll receive an additional raffle ticket and a brand-new book of your choice to keep! Teens may continue to earn additional raffle entries using the Bonus Board on the back for a total of 26 entries (13 regular board & 13 bonus board)!

Adult Challenge: Open to patrons 19+. Read books from the categories listed on your Winter Reading BINGO Board. Each BINGO earns an entry into our basket raffle! You can also earn BINGOS and tickets by using the Bonus Board and checking books out! Once you complete your card (12 BINGOs total), you'll receive an additional raffle ticket for a total of 13. If you complete the Bonus Board you can earn an additional 13 tickets for a maximum of 26 raffle tickets.

Books read for these challenges must be borrowed from the Nioga Library System, Libby, Hoopla, or Blackstone Unlimited.

Melissa Levins

Miss Melissa is the Children's Librarian at the Woodward Memorial Library and enjoys working with patrons of all ages! She started at WML as a Library Assistant in July 2018, but has worked at a number of libraries in Genesee county since 2014. Miss Melissa received her Bachelor's in Child and Family Studies from SUNY Oneonta in 2013 and completed her Master's in Library Science at the University of Syracuse in 2023. At WML she leads library programs of all types, including storytimes, after-school programs, take-home kits, and adult crafts. She loves hearing your program ideas and making them a reality! 

 

Miss Melissa loves to read mysteries, romance, fantasy, and thrillers, and her favorite adult authors are Mary Kubica, Emily Henry, Jodi Picoult, Sally Hepworth, and Christina Lauren. Her favorite children's authors are Todd Parr, Eric Carle, Lucy Cousins, and Lemony Snicket, while her favorite young adult authors are Sarah Dessen, Jennifer Niven, and Maureen Johnson.
