Winter Reading Challenges End

Our Winter Reading Challenges begin today! 

All challenges run from January 4th - February 27th and winners will be announced on March 1st. This year's challenge will be completely online through our Beanstack website. Adults, Teens, & Children will be able to easily log the books they are reading, earn tickets for completing certain tasks and enter them into prize raffles.

Adults: Read a book from 5 separate categories and be entered to win a small prize at the end of the challenge. Read a book from each of the 10 categories and receive an extra entry into the raffle!

Children: A badge and raffle ticket is earned for every 30 minutes that they read! Children may also earn tickets by participating in virtual Library programs and completing craft kits! As they earn tickets, children will be able to enter them into the prize raffle of their choice.

Teens: Receive a ticket for each book read throughout the challenge and enter them in to win a small prize. Additional tickets will be rewarded to teens for attending virtual Library programs, completeing craft kits, and writing book reveiws!

Miss Melissa is the Children's Librarian at the Woodward Memorial Library and enjoys working with patrons of all ages! She started at WML as a Library Assistant in July 2018, but has worked at a number of libraries in Genesee county since 2014. Miss Melissa received her Bachelor's in Child and Family Studies from SUNY Oneonta in 2013 and recently completed her Master's in Library Science at the University of Syracuse. At WML she leads library programs of all types, including storytimes, after-school programs, take-home kits, and adult crafts. She loves hearing your program ideas and making them a reality! 

 

Miss Melissa loves to read mysteries, romance, fantasy, and thrillers, and her favorite adult authors are Mary Kubica, Colleen Hoover, Jodi Picoult, and Christina Lauren. Her favorite children's authors are Todd Parr, Eric Carle, Lucy Cousins, and Lemony Snicket, while her favorite young adult authors are John Green and Maureen Johnson.
